BlogAsheville announces their 2007 draft picks

If you like to keep up with the haps on the local blogosphere, the best place to do it is local blog hotspot BlogAsheville. In addition to crossposting popular locally oriented content, the blog is also noted for their comprehensive “blogroll,” featuring a who’s-who of homegrown blogstars.

Recently, BlogAsheville updated their blogroll, trimming out the dead ones and replacing them with a fresh crop of netizens. But who are these new people, and why should you bother reading them? Here’s the lowdown on these newcomers, told in their own words.

Jennifer Saylor: “Is a professional freelance writer, information junkie, blogger and later-in-life college student ... Her hobbies are rearranging things into order and sense, always trying to offer insight and complexity rather than the expected, gardening, knitting and making playlists. And fooling around online.”

She Who Eats: “When I die, the thing I will miss the most is going out to eat.  I spend most of my days trying to avoid eating out every single meal. ... I add and remove ingredients to create “the perfect meal” at every restaurant I frequent.  I am on a first name basis with the staff of at least seven restaurants in Asheville.  I believe in personally thanking the chef after a great meal.”

Incidental Muse: “I like the word muse. I will usually be referring to the muse in terms of an artistic inspiration. I also like the concept of events being incidental, and incidentally, incidental muse was also a title that was not already taken.”

(Not) Thomas Wolfe: “Political analysis and commentary from the Paris of the South. No woo woo, no yada yada, no Not-In-My-Backyard.”

The Lack of Life of George “the” Bastard: “I am Asheville’s most offensive, least-funny stand-up comedian. Come see my shows with the Feral Chihuahuas and other projects.”

Derek Olson’s Photos: No profile information, but his photos speak for themselves. He took the image we’re running with this blog post.

Petulant Rumblings: “Politics, Culture, Random Thoughts of Annoyance or Glee before the Insanity emerges.”

Hillbilly White Trash:
“Commenting about politics, religion, firearms, food, Celtic music, beer, science fiction and the Asheville Vortex. Home of the Hillbilly Ecosystem.”

AGirlWhoWearsGlasses:
“There once was a Laura called Llew
And I swear that the following’s true:
She worked in a store
Pimping books out like whores
Instead of just sharing a few.” (-Will Porter)

Timpeck: How about including the URL to your blog in your comments? Seriously.

Tim’s blog was added to our Blogroll a few weeks ago, before the big move to add those above.

We highly recommend, “Et In Arcadia ego” at http://timpeck.blogspot.com/

For that matter, I also just added the wonderful, “Chasing the Bread Truck”, at http://chasing-the-bread-truck.blogspot.com/

All hail the MtnXpress, we are not worthy!

Thanks for the shoutout, Mtn. X!

We try to stay up to date on the local blog scene, but it can change really fast.  If you’re a local blogger, and you’re not already on the BlogAsheville blogroll, then email Uptown Ruler at blogashevilleAT hotmail Dot com.  We’ll check you out and list you.

Great article.....

Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming addition to the Asheville blogosphere......

Sometime in August, the new Asheville Music Scene blogsite will be fully up and running.

The Asheville Music Scene will focus exclusively and news, announcements, Concert Calendars, and other items of interest to the Asheville music community.  We want to serve both music lovers and musicians themselves.

We want to compliment the other great sources of local music information like MtnExpress, Take 5, etc.

Stay tuned.....we’ll be up and running SOON !!!!
