The midnight movie that will not die finally gets a regular date in Asheville, as Carolina Cinemas and the Montford Park Players begins showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show this Saturday (at midnight, naturally).
“Some friends took me to this theater in Easley, South Carolina: we got dressed up, we went and there was a really good turnout. I got addicted,” Casey Merriman, marketing manager at the Carolina Cinemas, told Xpress. “I thought: Asheville’s the perfect place for this.”
Expect rice throwing, expect to do the Time Warp, expect much shouting back at the screen (only some of it intelligible) and a few other surprises that really shouldn’t be spoiled for anyone who hasn’t gone to a showing of this classic. Here’s a primer if you’re worried.
For now it will be a monthly event planned for every second Saturday. The Montford Park Players will act as the cast. Admission is $8.50, $7.50 for students.
