Winter wonderland: Snow's not done yet

Western North Carolinians are waking up to varying amounts of snow this Saturday, Jan. 8 — from a few inches to a foot at higher elevations. And forecasters are calling for more.

According to data available at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, Asheville and Buncombe County snowfall totals were about 4.5 inches, while north Maggie Valley in Haywood County has about one foot and Burnsville (Yancey County) got about 10 inches of snow.

Periods of snow continue across WNC, and winter storm advisories are in effect. The National Weather Services warns: "IT APPEARS THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ON MONDAY ACROSS SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE...SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA...AND THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS."
