In advance of the Saturday, April 30 Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event ("The international men's march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence"), the local group has released another fun — and poignant! — video (below).
Watch local men-about-town strut their stuff in platform boots, strappy sandals and glittery pumps.
Thinking about joining the walk? According to the Walk A Mile Asheville website, "Kip and Franzi at Hip Replacements are excited to offer the official 'Walk a Mile Asheville' shoes for only $15 a pair! Great colors, men’s sizes and looks that are sure make heads turn as you Walk the Walk."
Registration is open here for $10. Start raising funds for Our VOICE (the goal is $25,000). The event kicks off Saturday, April 30 at City/County Plaza. Registration at 9 a.m. walk begins at 10 a.m.

Isn't there something pathetically wrong with this picture--using the universal symbols of streetwalker charm (red spike heels, platform boots, strappy sandals and glittery pumps) for a "men's march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence"?
And why is this event in the Arts & Entertainment "style" section? Frolicking fun-loving men in drag “stepping out in style†in their red high heels? And a frivolous video deemed “poignant�

Wow! Why do you think "red spike heels" are the "universal symbol of a street walker"? I love mine!
I see it as a charity trying to raise money for something good. Finding a way to put the word out. Why do have to protest the protest?!!!

I walked in this event last year and it was a blast. Good people, good cause. The Marcos Pizza team took home the trophy but we have high hopes of taking from them this year.

Men loves heels, the narrower & higher the better, historically they were designed & worn by men. Personally I think it's some genetic defect like whatever drives people to become telemarketers. If men like gnarly deformed, bunion ridden feet, let them have at it! Ladies sport those sneakers for happy soles! :)
