Asheville City Council has invited residents to a public information open house on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the City Public Works Building. On the agenda: a chance to provide input about the sites listed in the city-owned property initiative, including desired outcomes for each site. Opinons gathered at the event will be provided to City Council.

Council has been working on redevelopment of city-owned properties and a request-for-qualifications process is currently underway for selected properties in and around downtown Asheville. A map showing the properties can be viewed at the city's Web site. City Council received staff updates on each site and provided staff with input on desired outcomes for each property during the Aug. 21 work session.

The City is maintaining a Web page that includes information about the City Owned Properties Initiative. Contact Sam Powers, Economic Development Director for the City of Asheville, with questions about the request-for-qualifications process at 259-5433.

The City Public Works Building is located at 161 South Charlotte St. in downtown Asheville.
