Davidson College placed fourth in the rankings for “Top 50 Liberal Arts Colleges” — a list headed by Pomona College in California. Duke University was ranked fifth among the “Top 50 Private Universities,” with Wake Forest University placing 20th and Elon University 29th.
The state’s public universities and colleges took six slots in Kiplinger’s 100 top public institutions, with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ranked first for in-state comparisons. N.C. State University placed 18th; UNC at Wilmington scored 25th; Appalachian State ranked 29th; UNCA came in at 43rd, making the top 50; and UNC at Greensboro placed 98th. rankings.
