HATCH Asheville is a four-day event celebrating a number of creative disciplines (journalism, film, photography, architecture, fashion, music, design/technology) through mentoring, workshops, demonstrations and panels. Expect to see fashion shows, film screenings, projections in the park and music all over town. Below is a collection of Xpress written and user-created content related to HATCH.

I've never been to a Hatch event and have not had a desire to. Most of what they discuss can be found on the internet. I just wish they would make this a primarily Asheville artists based event to showcase them and promote them instead of artists from around the country.

@John - No artist is an island, even the local tree of creativity must be refreshed from time to time with new ideas & experiences. I personally always find at least one kernel of inspiration in what others are doing, either directly or indirectly.
What Hatch speakers bring can't be found on the internet, especially in terms of human contact.
You should attend next year & amaze yourself with what you Hatch!

there's "big love fest" (http://loveasheville.org/) on may 1st coming up as well as "makers and lovers" (http://coopasheville.com/) that night; stuff that could also be found on the internet but with a focus on local based artists
