A fuel update on the city of Asheville’s Web site lists the situation as “significantly improved.” If you want to know more than that, stay tuned for the Oct. 14 City Council meeting, where city staff will give the rundown on the city’s conservation measures during the gas shortage.

Also on the agenda is a proposed new downtown hotel/restaurant at the site of the Hot Dog King on Biltmore Avenue. The seven-story Aloft development comes to Council for a conditional zoning.

Council also plans to issue a resolution of thanks to the N.C. Department of Transportation for its help in re-engineering the Interstate 26 Connector design known as 4B (see video below), and once again stating Council’s preference for that option.

And the city may change the way it appoints someone to a vacant seat on Council (more on that here).

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. on the second floor of Asheville City Hall. For the complete agenda, go here.
