Two years ago, production company See No Evil films moved to downtown Asheville. With their win last week for best long-form video, they've now won two Latin Grammy awards since the move.
Company co-founders Rogelio Cordovez and Monica Sosa earned the accolade for their work on Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas "MTV Unplugged" video. The long-form video features Venegas on an elaborate stage, accompanied by special guests and performing unique versions of her popular songs, including Limón y Sal (the chorus of which translates as "I love you like lemon and salt").
"For me, what's most important is we prepped it from Asheville," said Cordovez, a video editor. "I want people to know that professionals from Asheville made this happen." He and Sosa moved here two years ago from Miami. Both have worked with MTV for more than a decade, and last year won a Latin Grammy for their work on Ricky Martin's "MTV Unplugged." (Sosa described Martin as "such a nice guy.")
So how does the second Grammy feel?
"It's awesome," said Sosa, line producer for the video. "So much work goes into putting something like this together...so much effort and creativity."
