In case you missed it, Asheville Street Style launched online earlier this year. The photo-based Web site documents Asheville's colorful and creative fashion scene. Images, gathered by a team of photographers, run the gamut from the DIY and recycled styles spotted on Lexington Ave. and boutique-y looks seen on downtown workers on lunch break, to wildly fanciful creations fashioned for events and edgy outfits worn on stage at local music shows.
Why Asheville Street Style? Well, like many larger cities -- New York, Paris, Tokyo and Helsinki -- Asheville has its own flavor, hard-to-pin-down and equally hard-to-deny artistic essence that comes out in the free-spirited apparel of its residents. Love it or hate it, the local street style is constantly evolving and often inspiring.
