Publishing what amounts to an online diary to untold numbers of readers is inherently awkward. But maybe blogging is best when it drives us out of our comfort zones.
Over time, it seems every blog takes on a theme or voice, trending toward things that relate to one another. Other times, a blog that writes about Ephemera takes a picture of a turkey in the window.
See? It kind of sticks out like a needle scratching across a record, making us see the blog in a new turkyful light.
Then there’s Skippy Haha, being forced to live without a computer, and Lydia See tentatively stepping away from watermarking her photos.
Hangover Journals is not often political, but when it is, it's usually something like the Obama lava lamp. Besides, politics are everywhere, including on the opossum trap at Nice Marmot.
Discomfort is hugely intriguing on a blog, like this uncomfortable encounter at Blue Barnhouse. Or this list of things Liminal Screeds doesn’t like to admit to liking.
And then there are those who simply have no shame, like that wonderful summertime awkward classic: shopping for bathing suits, with The Adventures of Sumpermom.

Thank you for the kind mention of my turkey photograph post, Brian.
After 4 years of blogging about ephemera my audience knows I sometimes step away from the old paper blather and chime in with something completely different. The most popular post I ever wrote was on how a brave dog protected us from an Asheville bear.
Also, this week, for instance, I wrote a post about my mom's 50th year as a hairdresser (50 years behind the shears).
While more than a 1,000 of my 1,200 posts are about ephemera collectibles, I toss in an odd, off-topic post here and there just to keep the record from skipping, skipping, skipping...
And thanks again for noticing!
