Following a work session in which it will hear budget and stimulus package updates, Council will hold its regular meeting to discuss, among a flurry of other things, the proposed animal-tethering law, as well as take public comment on the Downtown Master plan.
Consultants presented the master plan proposal to Council on May 12, but this will be the chance for public comment before the body votes on whether to accept it. Later that evening, city staff will also give a presentation on the health of downtown.
Staff has also reworked some of the proposed anti-tethering ordinance and comes to Council with a few new options.
After two years of work, the city is also poised to complete the purchase of the 30 acres designated as Overlook Park.
Following a compromise proposal to resolve Asheville’s water woes, Council Member Carl Mumpower is presenting a strategy of his own — namely, that the city stick to its guns.
And Council will revisit the zoning of recently annexed property near Airport Road.
Asheville City Council meets on the second floor of city hall at 2:30 p.m. for a work session, followed by the regular meeting at 5 p.m. Click here for the complete agenda.
