It’s time to speak your mind on Asheville's annual budget. And the city settles a lawsuit from a 2006 police raid that left a man burned.
The budget has been no stranger at Asheville City Council meetings, but this particlular appearance is set aside for public comment.
On the consent agenda: The $300,000 settlement of Troy Wyatt vs. City of Asheville. Wyatt sued the city after a 2006 drug raid by the Asheville Police Department in which he was injured by a stun grenade and arrested. The settlement requires Council approval for half of the cost.
On the sanitation front, Council will consider an update to the 10-year solid-waste-management plan, and bring the residential recylcing fee up to an unsubsidized $2.95 per household in order to fill budgetary gaps.
And the McKibbon Group is seeking to buy air rights for its hotel/parking deck project at 51 Biltmore Ave.
