Word came today from Asheville City Council member Gordon Smith, commenting on the Scrutiny Hooligans blog, that the city is pursuing a social media plan. Smith quotes Assistant City Manager Lauren Bradley as saying: "we are weeks away from launching a social media plan. As you know, we are restructuring staff in the community relations division so we can put more focus on all electronic forms of communication including the Web site."
In addition, Smith quotes Bradley as saying that live streaming of Council meetings is in the offing: "IT Services is looking into 2 options for moving this forward – one of which involves an outside vendor, and the other would involve us making some internal upgrades. At this point, I believe we will come up with a feasible option and should have a plan in the next 30 days or less.Read the full article
