The artwork that will grace the sides of three Asheville city buses has already been chosen, but Mountain Xpress is appealing the public art project to the court of public opinion. Tell us — what art would you have chosen?
The city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department recently announced that three local artists have been chosen to have their artwork appear on buses as part of the city’s first-ever “Art on Transit” bus art competition. The pieces were chosen by a five-person panel, and approved by the city's Public Art Board.

Ouch...some of those are really bad.
My favorites are the Grove Arcade and Kress/BB&T photos and the bicyclists.

You've mentioned that numerous times, yet it is still just as vague as it was the first time. Do you have ANY constructive, substantive suggestions? Or just pebbles tossed from your ivory tower?

I think the two that were already chosen are the best. I do like the idea of using the vintage photographs though.
Art on Transit 42
They at least are related to Asheville where the two that were chosen by the board are totally unrelated to anything having to do with Asheville.
There are some bad ones there.

Are you saying the bunnies and the abstract piece are unrelated to AVL?
To be fair - when the call was put out there to artists the only specification was for was the best possible 'art' to put on the sides of 3 buses. The call never stated the art had to do with anything about Asheville necessarily, except that the artists themselves were required to live on a transit route. The jury that decided these pieces picked what they believe is the best possible art - or combination of well executed artistic pieces - to be displayed.
The fresh produce/food piece was chosen partially because of Asheville's diverse local food variety and the large number of local tailgates and other produce markets in town. Farm to table and all that jazz, so it was very much about Asheville specifically.

I like the last one with the "where would you like to go?" on it...also like the local foods one and the bunnies is kinda neat
