"Forest Service Huey is now on site at Swannanoa fire. It's dipping out of Owen Park. Five buckets down now," Aaron D. D'Innocenzi said via Twitter at about 1 p.m. on Saturday, shortly after firefighters managed to build a containment line all the way around the 35-acre fire off Sims Lane, north of Bee Tree Road. Video by Aaron D. D'Innocenzi.

All photos by Amber and Cheryl Swann. The Forest Service is using its helicopter to drop water on the fire. Aaron D. D'Innocenzi, producer at WWNC-WPEK, is following the story and send the files.

I don't like the danger and expense of so called "controlled burn" fires. They often get out of control. The smoke causes some serious health problems for those with heart and lung problems. I would rather see manual clean up of brush and dead wood that might cause a fire risk.
The USFS needs to spend more time and effort on protecting our forests from loggers and tree theft and those who want to take native plants illegally.
