Turnout light for the Marshall-Cunningham runoff to pick a Democrat to challenge U.S. Sen. Burr? Judging by this Tuesday, June 22, afternoon photo by Xpress intern Halima Flynt ... yes. Fewer than 60 voters had turned out by the time Flynt snapped this shot at the Montford Community Center. Nonetheless, Elaine Marshall appears to have carried Buncombe County, where turnout was less than 5 percent of registered voters.( Buncombe results)
Statewide, Marshall — North Carolina's current Secretary of State — has garnered about 61 percent of the vote. In the regular election earlier this year, she had not received enough votes to win outright and avoid a runoff. Marshall will face U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, Republican, this fall.

It seems that Montford was a hotbed of voter activity! In my district, I was voter #39 at 6PM.
