Adults of all ages are welcome to relive their childhood with classic games like the three-legged race and dodge ball, all to benefit Blue Ridge Pride.
Blue Ridge Pride promotes the diverse community of Western North Carolina and provides education and support to LGBTQ people and their families. This nonprofit is best known for its weekend-long outdoor festival each October, a celebration of the LGBTQ community featuring music, entertainment and vendors. Blue Ridge Pride was recently named the host of the 2010 POSE Conference. Last year’s conference in Richmond, Va. featured workshops on volunteer management, tourism and marketing.
If you’ve always wanted to race through Carrier Park in rainbow attire or throw water balloons at your friends, don’t miss the BRPride Games. There will be an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. followed by an after party at The Altamont Brewing Company at 1042 Haywood Road in West Asheville. Come sprint, throw or relay to support Blue Ridge Pride and Asheville’s LGBTQ community.
