From ECO, the Environmental & Conservation Organization (Hendersonville)
Green Home Tour Showcases Homes that work with nature- TICKETS NOW ON SALE
(HENDERSONVILLE, NC, June 25, 2010) – The gusher in the gulf is a wakeup call to all of us to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels. As prices for oil and other energy sources continue to climb, greening our homes has never become more important for our environmental health as well as our financial wellbeing. ECO, the Environmental and Conservation Organization, is proud to announce its third annual Green Home Tour that showcases some of the finest green homes in our area.
The tour is scheduled for Saturday, August 21 from 10-4 and includes new and newly greened older homes as well as some commercial structures. Specially included this year is an ongoing workshop on solar panel technology by Advanced Thermal Solutions, a local solar company.
A growing number of residents in our area are building smarter by decreasing the impact their homes have on the environment. With numerous tax incentives offered by the State and Federal Government, it has become easier and much more economical to be green. The tour will feature homes and businesses that have been designed or retrofitted to implement sustainable practices that utilize local materials, conserve energy, ensure healthy air quality, and work in conjunction with the land. The tour hopes to further the understanding of the “home as a system” working together to achieve a more comfortable and green result. Founded over two decades ago, ECO has since been working to educate and advocate for the protection of our land, air and water, our most precious resources.
The Green Building Tour is scheduled from 10-4 on Saturday, August 21st. Tickets may be purchased at the ECO office at 121 Third Ave West, Hendersonville, NC 28792, at the Hendersonville and Asheville Visitor’s Centers or on-line at www.eco-wnc.org or at the ECO booth at the Southern Energy and Environment Expo (SEEEXPO). For more information, contact ECO at (828) 692-0385 or at www.eco-wnc.org.
