Parents in the Roberson, Erwin and Enka Districts should be aware of several transportation changes for the start of the new school year, as outlined below.
Bus routes for T.C. Roberson H.S. and Valley Springs Middle School are changing to become more efficient. Parents should receive information in the mail about their student's specific route changes, but if not, they should check with their school before school begins on Tuesday.
Parent drop off/pick up lanes are changing at West Buncombe Elementary School and at Enka Middle School. Information about these changes is available at each school and on school web sites. A new traffic light will be installed at the entry to West Buncombe Elementary school within the next two months, but in the meantime caution is advised. Traffic patterns will not change at Erwin Middle or High, but motorists in the area are advised to be alert to the changes at West Buncombe ES.
ALL bus riders in ALL DISTRICTS are encouraged to arrive at bus stops 10-15 minutes early for the first few weeks of school as route timings are fine tuned. Parents are encouraged to have their students ride the bus for safety, economic and environmental reasons, but if they must bring students to school and/or pick them up, please allow sufficient time and watch carefully for new entry/exit locations.
