Clare and the Reasons can only dream of accomplishing what Carlos Santana has accomplished musically over the last 40 years. Wouldn't surprise me if they are cleaning Carlos' toilet in a few years.

Totally agree with Phil. Carlos Santana isn't ruining music. This Clare woman knows that. Silly cow! Now someone run and tell her that her band sucks. Hurry, before Asheviile's "Clare and the Reasons-fest" goes into its "planning stage". barf.

Have you heard the song she is referring to?
Its a terrible remake of 'back in black' with Nas rapping over it.

Play the interview again and listen closely. All three band members clearly say "While my guitar gently weeps"- they're talking about the Beatles song that Santana covered, not the song you posted the youtube link for. You might wanna listen more clearly in the future to make sure you have the correct references. Also, dig deeper- you'll find music critics dismissed Clare & The Reasons "Arrow" as sounding so blatantly much like a Beatles ripoff that they couldn't even actually tell what Clare & The Reasons THEMSELVES actually sounded like. Then Clare & Co. hear Santana (who already has his own sound, unlike them) on the radio doing a Beatles cover, and it's sour grapes. The song you referred to in YOUR youtube link is an easy target, yet it's not the one THEY were referring to. listen more carefully.

Yes, Vic I've heard the music. And unlike some people I know, I can listen critically. AND I was at the show. Listened & watched. Made up my own opinion. Three days later I read a Pitchfork review of Clare & The Reasons "Arrows" and for the most part agreed with it. They're so busy trying to mimeograph the Beatles that you can't actually hear what Clare & The Reasons really sound like. Do I like the new Santana over the Old Santana? No, but at least Carlos came up with his own sound before he decided to tinker around with it. He's a legend. So what if his Beatles cover isn't the greatest thing you've ever heard? Go listen to Clare & The Reasons do their version of Genesis' "That's All" and report to me back on deck, pirate Vic! yaaarrrrghhh

can anyone give a musical example of Clare and the Reasons sounding like the beatles? I hear Harry Nillson and Beachboys inspiration hints at times, but not the Beatles. Pitchfork is not the word of God, FYI. I'm a huge Clare and the Reasons fan and I think they are one of the most unique and innovative bands out there, I have seen them several times live and it's incredible the way they bring their records to life onstage. Thanks for posting the video!
