Asheville Holiday Styrofoam Recycling Event

Recycle your Styrofoam packaging this holiday! Rainbow Recycling and Asheville GreenWorks are sponsoring a Styrofoam recycling collection on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 10am - 2pm, at Asheville Pizza & Brew, 675 Merrimon Avenue, in the back lot by the recycling center. Drive up to the white truck and volunteers will assist unloading the Styrofoam from your car or truck.

Material accepted is limited to white molded and sheet Styrofoam (free of tape, glue, cardboard and grease). Please bag small pieces. No colored foam. NO cups, bowls, plates, trays or carryout boxes. Take “peanuts” to your local shipping store.

This event is FREE to Asheville area residents, businesses, organizations. Businesses with large amounts are asked to call 828-275-2405 in advance; a $10 fee will apply.

Snow date is Saturday, January. 15, 10am – 2pm, at Asheville Pizza & Brew.

Styrofoam is not biodegradable. Once in the environment it stays there. Recycling is the best environmental option for existing Styrofoam. Styrofoam pieces will be transported to a recycling facility in Gaston County and made into new pieces.
