In response to N.C. Sen. James Forrester calling Asheville a "cesspool of sin" in remarks at a Gaston church last night, an e-commerce website based in Denver, printfection.com, has begun selling T-shirts emblazoned with the phrase.

I think I may need to clarify a couple of things.
1) I put together the graphic pictured above. All I did was find a CC-licensed photo of something iconic and unique to Asheville, ran Threshold on it in PhotoShop, and added text. All I need is a digital projector and some paint and I could be the next Dustin Spagnola. (I'm kidding, of course. I love his work.)
2) In accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons license, I fully credit the original photographer, Abe Ezekowicz, and my "remix" of this photo is also CC-licensed accordingly (CC BY-SA 3.0 - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en).
3) I was also the person who set up the Printfection shop. They're basically an alternative to CafePress, who are based in San Diego, and *they* would have been used if not for the fact that their site was having problems at the moment.
4) I'm certain that Mr. Fobes was just pointing out the complete coincidence that Printfection is Denver-based, and that no implication that someone out-of-state was profiting off of our fair city was made or intended. They were used because I wanted these available quickly, and I'm not making any money off of this - although I did have that option. If a similar service was based in Asheville, I would have used them. If a local screen-printer wants to use this same design and make shirts from them, they can. I'll be happy to provide them with the hi-res image, and I will happily close this shop which happens to be located on the website of a Denver-based company.

Via @davidforbes on Twitter: "Cesspool of sin" shirts feature @aricvance's design.
@aricVance's Twitter feed links to http://epicaricacy.org, which says:
"EDM is based in Asheville, NC, which is merely a coincidence."

Someone should drop the good senator a line, James.Forrester@ncleg.net, and ask him his shirt size.

Just ordered mine -- baseball jersey styles, size large. I hope it will arrive in time for me to wear it around Vancouver when I go there on vacation here in a couple of weeks.

@hauntedheadnc-I hear Vancouver is the Asheville of Canada. Try the 'Nam in Kits for Brunch. Great huevos rancheros.

I hear West Asheville is the West of Asheville. When are we gonna get blamed for something we can make money on?

I have a few "cesspool of sin" things, too, as well as other Asheville stuff. The old Senator probably didn't know he was creating a great slogan! LOL. http://www.cafepress.com/grand_gifts/7755749

The tattoo parlors should get busy working on some skin art designs for those who are going bare breasted.
Kudos to the t-shirt folks for making money off the Clown Car Committee. I hope you'll send one each to Don Yelton and Carl Mumpower-- postage due, of course.

I always liked "The Babylon of the Blue Ridge Mountains" better, but apparently cesspool has better marketing value.
