After serving three terms, Buncombe Commissioners get the same health-insurance package full-time County employees do, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports:

Regardless of whether they work full-time hours, commissioners reward themselves with health insurance equal to that allowed full-time county employees.

And that benefit comes with a bonus — win three terms in office and the insurance stays in place until they turn 65 and become eligible for Medicare, even if they are voted out or decide not to run again.
