From the press release:
After a thorough executive search process, Leadership Asheville is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Brill as the new Executive Director.
“As an organization that brings together leaders to discuss and learn about the challenges facing our community, Leadership Asheville required a combination of vision, dedication, and management expertise in its leader," said Charles Frederick, Chairman of the Board for Leadership Asheville. "Barbara has just this combination. Her significant private and community experience, history of management achievement, and commitment to voluntary civic responsibility will be a driving force behind the continued success of the organization."
Ms. Brill comes to Leadership Asheville with an extensive background in Branding, Strategic Planning, Sales and Marketing and Change Management that was developed during her tenure in broadcast media management, in both the U.S. and Europe. Most recently Ms. Brill served as the Senior V.P. of Operations with Emmis Communications - an Indiana based, publicly traded multimedia company. Ms. Brill and her family moved to Asheville in 2010 after spending the previous ten years in Budapest, Hungary.
“Being involved in the community is something I have always gravitated towards throughout my adult life,” stated Ms. Brill. “The best way to make a difference is to get out there and volunteer your time to help strengthen at least one aspect that affects your daily life.”
Ms. Brill has been an active board member for a variety of nonprofit organizations in Europe and the United States and is currently serving on the MBW Consulting Group Advisory Board, as well as the Reuter YMCA HCC committee.
Leadership Asheville is dedicated to enhancing community leadership by developing, connecting, and mobilizing citizens throughout the region. Leadership Asheville is made possible through the generous support of its Contributing Partners: The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa, The University of North Carolina at Asheville, Volvo Construction Equipment North America, The Van Winkle Law Firm, Mission Health System, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Wachovia, Morosani & Associates, Blueprints for Business, T3 Creative Group, Magellan Strategy Group, and TD Bank.
