From the press release:
Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton today joined state and local officials for the announcement that Horsehead Corporation will be building an operation in Rutherford County and plans to create 250 jobs and make more than $360 million in capital investment.
Horsehead, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the largest zinc producer in the United States and the world's largest producer of zinc from recycled sources. The average wage will be $41,037 a year, compared to Rutherford County average of $28,392. Lt. Governor Dalton played a key role in attracting Horsehead to North Carolina.
“I’m happy to be part of bringing Horsehead Corporation to North Carolina. This is excellent news and exactly the news we’ve been waiting to hear. This area of North Carolina was devastated by the loss of manufacturing jobs sent overseas. Horsehead recognizes that we have skilled people ready to go to work,” Lt. Governor Dalton said. “Today’s announcement shows that we will continue to be aggressive in attracting good-paying jobs to North Carolina—including manufacturing ones—and that we are on the road to recovery.”
