Bothwell heads to Washington
Asheville City Council member Cecil Bothwell is headed for the Take Back the Dream Conference in Washington, DC, Oct. 3-5, thanks to his selection in a nationwide poll held by Democracy for America. Bothwell is one of three scholarship recipients selected from 415 applicants and will join over 2,000 delegates to the event. DFA is a one million+ member progressive organization founded by Gov. Howard Dean.
Bothwell said, "I'm honored to be tapped as a grassroots delegate to what may be the biggest progessive political gathering of the year. I expect to come back even more fired up about wresting control of our political system from corporate and big money interests."
Summit speakers will include Van Jones, author of The Green Collar Economy;former Labor Secretary Robert Reich; Rep. Barney Frank; SEIU President Mary Kay Henry; Rep. Barbara Lee; Voto Latino Field Director Eddy Morales' AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka; Greenpeace Executive Director Phil Radford; Color of Change Executive Director Rashad Robinson; Move-On Executive Director Justin Rubin; Sen. Bernie Sanders; Rep.
