A new collection of works, curated by Nancy Holmes, is set to open at the Upstairs Artspace (49 South Trade St., Tryon), on Friday, Oct. 7. The contemporary portrait show, titled Lines and Lives of the Face, brings together pieces from 14 artists. They are: Kevin Clinton, Mathew Curran, James Esber, Paul Flint, Alli Good, Ursula Gullow, Dawn Hunter, Taiyo la Paix, Francesco Lombardo, Brian Mashburn, Phillip McGuire, David Slone, Tim Speaker and Bob Trotman.
An opening reception takes place on Saturday, Oct. 8, with an informal talk at 4 p.m. and a reception from 5-8 p.m. The show runs through Thursday, Nov. 17, and a panel discussion with the artists is set for Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
