Three WNC writers — Thomas Rain Crowe, Barbara Duncan and Brent Martin — will read from their new collection of poetry Every Breath Sings Mountains: The Great Smoky Mountains this Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Malaprop's Bookstore and Cafe.
Illustrated by Robert Johnson, the chapbook is part of the Voices from the American Land series. Collectively these writers span a vast range of genres from nonfiction to fiction and poetry to children’s literature and each is the author of several books. In addition, Barbara Duncan is the Education Director at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian and Brent Martin is the Director for the Wilderness Society.
Voices from the American Land is an unusual land conservation program that uses contemporary poetic voices to “move the message of the land.” Through chapbook publications, local readings, and educational activities, the group aims to "revive and amplify a dominant tradition in American letters: the poetry of place."
