• The Moogfest costume contest has some pretty spectacular prizes, including "two VIP tickets and hotel stay for Moogfest 2012 and Frontier Fly Bucks provided by Frontier Airlines."
Here's how to play: "Grab your cell phone and snap a photo of yourself in costume wearing your Moogfest wristband or standing in front of a Moogfest 2011 sign during the festival weekend. Next, send your photo to moogfest@vibes.com to enter the contest."
Categories are scariest, funniest, most moogie, team/pairs and best in show.
• Need costume ideas? The Circle hosts the second annual Pre-Moog Fashion Festival at The One Stop Bar & Deli on Thursday, Oct. 27, 6-10 p.m.
Says a press release, "This funky fashion show will be overflowing with local treats, featuring all local Asheville designers with a focus on upcycled one of a kind originals. DJ Samuel Paradise will be spinning the tunes and the bar will be open for your enjoyment! The event will feature a runway show, a raffle to benefit LEAF in Schools and Streets, and a trunk sale with locally made tricks and treasures for the oncoming Moogtastic Halloween weekend!"
The runway show starts at 7:30 p.m. with apparel by Soul Fresh, Rhetorical Factory, Amy vs. Fabric, Bubbly Productions, Steph’s Originals, Gypsy Rose Creations, Intergalactic Hobo, Barefoot Tailor and others. "At the end of the runway show the audience will have the opportunity to vote for the 'The People’s Choice Award' in which one lucky fashion designer will be crowned and have bragging rights until we do it again next year." And, if you really like a look, snap it up at the trunk show.
The fashion show is part of a Moogfest preparty. Free for Moogfest pass holders, $5 for everyone else.
