Here's the press release from Buncombe County:

The Buncombe County Register of Deeds office has initiated the electronic recording (eRecording) of land record documents with Simplifile. There will be a kick-off meeting with special guest Secretary of State Elaine Marshall on October 21, 2011 at the County Administration Building located at 200 College Street to discuss how eRecording can benefit businesses. This event will take place at 9:30am. Please note that parking is available in the parking deck on College Street.

For organizations that submit documents to the Buncombe County Register of Deeds via express mail, mail, runner or courier service, the availability of eRecording services means that they will be able to securely and cost-effectively file documents with Buncombe County through a web browser from the comfort and convenience of their offices. This service will not only save time and money, it will also expedite document recordings.

Buncombe County Register of Deeds, Drew Reisinger, explained, “After discussing ‘eRecording’ with dozens of other Registers who have implemented this software, it became apparent that offering this option to those who would like to use it could be a real benefit for their businesses. What currently takes a few days for something to go through the mail can now be eRecorded in a matter of minutes. Providing this service will also have the environmental impact of printing less paper and completely eliminating the fossil fuels that were once used to transport the documents. This is a big step forward for bringing technology into the office here in Buncombe County.”
