Cardinal Gin from Kings Mountain (we profiled the company last year: http://www.mountainx.com/article/34942/Thats-the-spirit) recently won a gold medal at the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago. "It was the highest-rated domestic gin in 2011," says owner Alex Mauney in an email to Xpress. "We are really proud of that. I think we are the first distillery in N.C. to receive a gold medal."
Cooking Light Magazine also noted Cardinal Gin in their 2011 Taste Test Awards (read more about that by clicking the link below). "It was an honor to receive an award from the largest epicurean magazine in the country," says Mauney, who adds that the company recently started distribution in South Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey.
Cardinal Gin is available in local ABC stores and on the beverage list of some local restaurants, including Posana on Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville.Read the full article
