She's back: Miss Asheville pageant returns after two-year break

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports:

It’s been two years since the Miss Asheville crown was last bestowed on a lucky and talented winner, but two fans of the dormant pageant were determined not to make it three.

And so Saturday night, Miss Asheville will make her triumphant return. The pageant is being revived with much fanfare at Roberson High School, where one of six young contestants will go home with the crown, the title and a trip to the Miss North Carolina event in Raleigh.

“It needed to come back,” said Jeff Jones, who restarted the Miss Asheville competition with his partner Jon Vance. “With the 75th anniversary of the Miss North Carolina pageant coming up, Asheville needed to be there. And so we got up some volunteers and brought it back.”Read the full article
