A Fire Truck Pull will feature up to 100 people pulling a truck more than 50 feet down Coxe Avenue. Event organizers will film the pull for submission into the Guinness Book of World Records.
“With the addition of the fire truck pull, it was natural that this year’s Chow Down should benefit Captain Jeff Bowen’s family and honor his heroism,” said Gil Holmes, event organizer.
Premier Federal Credit Union will be at the event to handle all donations. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase for $5 and include prizes from Asheville Brewing Company, 12 Bones Smokehouse, French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Chimney Rock Park, Barley's, City Bakery, Woolworth Walk Soda Fountain and Lion’s Mane Hair Salon with the big giveaway is two rounds of golf from the Grove Park Inn.
There’s no fee to sample chili entries, but it's $25 to enter chili into the contest for judging. Judging categories include: Judge's Choice, People's Choice and best table decoration. Judge’s Choice winner will receive $100 from Asheville Brewing Company and have their chili featured on the restaurant’s menu for the month of November. Winner of the People's Choice award takes home $75 from Jack of the Wood and best table decoration will receive $25 from 12 Bones Smokehouse.
