A developer of vacation rental properties claims in a lawsuit that it was defrauded by the now-defunct Bank of Asheville when it was denied promised loans for a $2.8 million project in Buncombe County.

The suit filed by Deerborne Cottages LLC seeks to force the successor bank and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to make good on the loans and pay punitive damages. ...


Also named in the lawsuit are Bank of Asheville’s former president, Gordon “Buddy” Greenwood; former assistant vice president Raynia White; Troy-based First Bank, which acquired Bank of Asheville’s assets; and the FDIC.Read the full article
