Congress can cut the deficit while also protecting wildlife and public health, according to a new report. The report from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) identifies more than $100 billion which could be saved by eliminating tax breaks for oil, coal and ethanol. Outdoor recreation means 46,000 North Carolina jobs and adds almost $3 billion to the state's economy every year, numbers which prompt wildlife advocates to ask that conservation programs be protected in a tight budget cycle.
