FROM NEIGHBORS FOR EQUALITY (full release)
Neighbors for Equality (NFE) is excited to continue its new campaign “Coffee and Conversation” on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Wall Street Coffee House in Asheville, NC. This campaign helps communities come together to promote equality and fight against the anti-gay amendment in May. This event is free and open to all who advocate for equality.
“Coffee and Conversation” will again be a relaxing event of getting to know one another. It will continue to be a discussion of “Amendment One;” it will also include community- based strategies to defeat this amendment. In order for this amendment to be defeated, people in communities must work together.
This event will gain momentum in Asheville as it will specifically focus on ways to demystify the amendment and clear up some of the amendment’s rumors. One way of doing these things is by gathering for an open space dialogue in our communities. “Open Space” meeting time is the cornerstone for “Coffee and Conversation” events, in which members participate in meaningful dialogue. Then members will discuss ways in which their dialogues can be turned into strategic action for equality.
Based in Boiling Springs, NC, Neighbors for Equality (NFE) is a grassroots initiative working to prevent the passage of Amendment One to the North Carolina state Constitution. NFE is a group of activists, working to mobilize and inspire communities through researching issues, developing resources, coordinating events, registering voters, and encouraging equality supporters.Read the full article
