The third of seven campsites for the French Broad River Paddle Trail has been built. The French Broad Riverkeeper and the WNC Alliance plan to establish a world class paddle trail for canoes and kayaks on over 120 miles of the French Broad River, stretching from Rosman, NC to Newport, TN. In total, seven campsites will be added to complete the FBR Paddle Trail, so that paddlers have a camping opportunity every 12-15 miles, strategically located between the few existing public campgrounds.
The most recent volunteer event for campsite construction on October 21 was a huge success, thanks to volunteers from REI, N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources and AmeriCorps Project Conserve.
