Press release from Western Carolina Rescue Ministries:
WHO: Western Carolina Rescue Ministries
WHAT: Western Carolina Rescue Ministries will be giving away winter coats to the poor and homeless tomorrow, Nov. 12.
WHERE: Western Carolina Rescue Ministries, 225 Patton Avenue , Asheville, NC 28802
WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 12, 9 AM – 11 PM
WHY: Coats for the Cold was born out of a community need. The winter weather in our area brings thousands of requests from the poor and homeless who can’t afford appropriate winter attire. These people include but aren’t limited to men, women, and children, the unemployed, underemployed, and mentally ill. Western Carolina Rescue Ministries in Asheville has had widespread community support with this campaign to collect, clean and distribute winter coats, gloves, scarves and hats for the poor and homeless of Western North Carolina. Our partnerships have resulted in hundreds of donated coats each year and a climactic giveaway to the people in need. We’ve worked to connect compassionate hearts to this service, and have found the entire event to be a well embraced, heart-warming community service project.
SPONSORS: Swannanoa Cleaners, Clear Channel Radio, Charter Communications, Asheville K-mart Stores
