What’s better than warm pie and ice cream after a long Thanksgiving meal? Local pie that you don’t have to bake — paired with locally made ice cream.
Asheville-area pie company Pies in Disguise uses local fruits and veggies — and even local beer — in its baked goods. We suggest you consider pairing Disguise pies with selections from the Hop Ice Cream Café, also made with local ingredients whenever possible.
Below, we’ve listed all of the Thanksgiving pies that Ben Herring and Eliza Sydney (the creative minds behind Pies in Disguise) are offering this year. The two are currently accepting orders for all flavors. The pies cost $22, and are available for pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the West Village Market in West Asheville.
To make things fun, we also offer ice cream pairing suggestions, using the Hop Ice Cream Café‘s seasonal selections. The Hop requests at least 48 hours notice for pints (about $5) and quarts (about $9), says Greg Garrison, who owns both locations — one in West Asheville and the other in north Asheville — with his wife, Ashley. Greg adds that vegan option are available for just 50 cents extra. You’ll need to pick up your ice cream at either Hop location.
Don’t feel like making two trips? The West Village Market has limited selections of Ultimate Ice Cream Company goods in the freezer.
