Arrests made in pedestrian hit-and-run on Patton Avenue

THE ASHEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S full release:

ASHEVILLE - October 29, 2011 at 2311 hrs Walten Horton was hit by a motor vehicle while standing in the roadway on Patton Ave near N. Ann St. During the investigation it was revealed that Richard William Hendricks was operating the vehicle that night. The night of the collision Linda Hendricks stated she was driving due to the fear of her husband getting a Driving While Impaired charge. On November 14, 2011 Richard Hendricks was arrested and charged with Felony Hit and Run. Hendricks was released on a $1000 unsecured bond. Linda Hendricks was arrested and charged with Resist, Delay, or Obstruct for obstructing the investigation by providing false information. Linda Hendricks was released on a $1000 unsecured bond as well. Horton remains at Mission Hospital in ICU, listed with serious injuries.
