From the press release:
Starting Wednesday November 30, Luella’s Bar-B-Que will offer a pint of bbq to anyone donating a pint of blood to the local Red Cross. To launch the 25 day Pint For Pint Challenge, the American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Luella’s between 11:00am – 3:30pm on the November 30. People giving blood can visit Luella’s with proof of their donation and receive a free pint of award winning bbq. The drive will conclude on December 24.

Luellas and the American Red Cross joined forces on this project last year and helped to save or sustain 1,522 lives. “During the Holiday Season, the American Red Cross experiences a significant decline in blood donations, yet the need for blood increases due to increased travel and car accidents. Our partnership with Luella's has allowed us to reach our collection goals in the past two years in Asheville and has given us an opportunity to thank our donors in a very special way. We look forward to this partnership every year,” says Stacey Taylor of the Asheville American Red Cross.

In addition to receiving a coupon for a free pint of food from Luella’s BBQ, all presenting donors will be automatically entered in a drawing for a chance to win a pair of roundtrip tickets on Delta Air Lines.

“I think it’s a perfect match,” says Luella’s proprietor and pit boss, Jeff Miller. “Not only are the amounts of donations quite compatible, but we believe in the importance of giving back to the community in as many ways as possible. A lot of times, people forget that blood banks need us just as much as other nonprofits and we’re committed to engaging our patrons and rewarding them for their compassion,” Miller concludes.
