Mall says they made a mistake, bring back bell ringers

The bells and the bright red kettles will return to the Blue Ridge Mall after its corporate management reversed a decision to ban Salvation Army bell ringers.

"We've made a mistake," John Gibson, member manager for Hull Storey Gibson Companies LLC in Augusta, Ga., said Saturday.

On Friday, Hull Storey stated the Salvation Army bell ringers would not be allowed at any of the company's 17 enclosed malls in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Texas. Gibson stated the decision was based on complaints from the customers and tenants. The company has managed the Blue Ridge Mall for the past 10 years.
