This red-tailed hawk was admitted to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Institute in July 2011. He had multiple fractures, including four breaks to his right wing.
"We never anticipated that a bird with such severe injuries would ever fly again, but he surprised us by attaining full flight! He was released by our veterinarian, Dr. Lee Bolt of Asheville, North Carolina," Blue Ridge Wildlife writes.
