Fletcher, NC - On Sunday, December 4th, in beautiful Fletcher Community Park , there will be a 5K race and the Reid & Reid 1 mile Rudolph Fun Run to benefit Hands On! – A Child’s Gallery! Be Active-Appalachian is sponsoring the 5K Reindeer Run and Dr. Alison Reid and Dr. Richard Reid are sponsoring the Rudolph Run. Along with the 5K and 1 mile Rudolph Run, there will be music, face painting and a visit from Santa! Dressing in your most festive holiday attire is encouraged! The race will go on in rain, shine or snow!
All Reid & Reid 1 mile Rudolph Run participants will receive a prize for completing the run and prizes will be awarded to the top 5K finishers. All participants will also be entered in a drawing for generous gifts donated by local businesses. For registration information, please visit www.handsonwnc.org .

“We are so excited to have this fun event to benefit Hands On! for the third year”, says Heather Boeke, Executive Director of Hands On!. “Hands On! generates 50% of its income through operating income, and the other 50% comes from generous donations, grant income and special events such as this Reindeer Run. By participating in this event, our community is helping us sustain our operations, while enjoying the festivities.”
The mission of Hands On! is to serve children and families by providing educational exhibits that stimulate the imagination and motivate learning in a fun, safe , “hands on” environment. Hands On! is located at 318 N. Main Street. Regular hours are 10 – 5, Tuesday through Saturday, and admission is $5 per person.
