APD makes arrest in Thanksgiving Hit and Run

ASHEVILLE - Following the release of the suspect vehicle on video, an APD officer recognized the vehicle and followed up at the residence of the suspect. Officer Duyck located the suspect vehicle as well as William Bernard Bolden. Bolden agreed to come to APD for an interview where Bolden confessed to operating the vehicle and striking Mell Andree Ailes causing his death. William Bolden, 41, of 35 Grove St., Asheville, was charged with Hit and Run — resulting in death and no operators license. Bolden was released from Buncombe County Detection Facility on an unsecure bond of $5,000. The District Attorney's office will be consulted next week on any additional charges.
