First, the AIDS Memorial Quilt is on display at Pack Place. Sections from the quilt, whose pieces are lovingly crafted in memory of those who died of HIV and AIDS, are available for public viewing through Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and tomorrow and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. Free.
Secondly, a candlelight vigil takes place at Pack Place at 7 p.m. tonight. According to a newsletter from Western North Carolina AIDS Project, "People will gather in memorials and vigils around the globe to remember persons who have died from HIV/AIDS, and government and public health leaders will hold forums on AIDS topics." In Asheville, the vigil includes performances by the Men's Cantaria, Pastyme and Robert Thomas as well as a Scottish Honor Guard procession and a dramatic performance by actors from NC Stage.
