FROM ASHEVILLE HOMES FOR HEROES:
Homes for Heroes--a national organization which assists military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, health care workers and educators in saving money on real estate expenses--signed their first buyer on Nov. 29 in Asheville, NC. Lisa Marie Pilz, an Air Force veteran, is the first Homes for Heroes recipient in the Asheville community.

Homes for Heroes announced their exclusive partnership in Asheville, NC with Patton Property Group at Keller Williams in Sept. 2011. Formed in 2002 to recognize community heroes after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, this partnership supports the Asheville hero community as they buy and sell homes.

“We are very thankful that we were able to successfully support a military veteran in the purchase of her home. It is one thing to say "I want to give back" but seeing the first big check going out certainly made an impact on how much more I would like to work with this program,” said listing director Nadine Maltz. "I am looking forward to helping many more heroes buy and sell homes through this program.”

“I had no idea the Homes for Heroes program existed,” said Pilz. “When I started working with our selling agent Gwen Bowers, she informed me that I was eligible, and I was thrilled!”

Homes for Heroes is celebrating its ninth year of bringing big savings to everyday heroes. The sole purpose behind this collaboration between real-estate professionals, is to offer savings when buying or selling a home. While the program's primary concentration was originally intended to serve the Minnesota real estate market, word of the Homes for Heroes benefits unpredictably spread throughout the country and spiraled into a growing nationwide program.

Patton Property Group at Keller Williams offers 25 percent off real estate commissions for heroes who are buying or selling property.

About Homes for Heroes:

Homes For Heroes aims to help close the gap between the cost of housing and buyers and sellers in the following groups: military personnel, police officers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, surgeons, teachers, first responders, Veterans and others who serve our community and nation.

Homes for Heroes has already served hundreds of local heroes including a Police Sergeant who said, “This is not a gimmick. There is no extra paper work or special guidelines or income limits. Homes For Heroes is comprised of full service real estate, mortgage and title company professionals, who have long established reputations. Both the sale and the purchase of my home went off without a hitch. Homes For Heroes saved us nearly $5000.00 at closing. When raising a young family, every penny counts! I would definitely recommend this program to my fellow officers.”

Police Officer and Soldier Katie Blackwell, who is also a spokesperson for Homes For Heroes, returned from serving alongside her husband, Steve, in Iraq with the National Guard. Through her efforts in distributing information about the program to fellow soldiers, Homes for Heroes has been able to assist soldiers returning home, matching them to enthusiastic real estate affiliates eager to support our troops by way of great benefits offered by the program. Homes for Heroes is quickly aligning with the debriefing and reintegration initiatives at several military bases in anticipation of the large amount of returning troops.

“What some people do not realize is that when a new service or company creates and activates a website, you immediately have world-wide exposure and you better be prepared for that! We had to promptly scramble to find affiliates in other states to connect with the heroes calling in from all over the country. We are pleasantly surprised with the company’s growth and how our mission has helped so many with home ownership,” said Johnson.
