PENROSE — Conservationists expect funding to be approved in the next couple weeks to clean up a massive logjam on the French Broad River that poses a threat to water quality and the safety of outdoors enthusiasts.
On Thursday, three days after 6 to 8 inches of rain fell on the area, the logjam near the Transylvania Community Airport had grown significantly, and it continues to grow.
