FROM MISSION HEALTH (full release)
Mission Health System announced today that it received the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation (NRC), a firm that specializes in health care performance measurement and improvement.

The award recognizes hospitals that health care consumers selected as having the highest quality and image in the top 250 markets across the country. This is the 16th year that the NRC has awarded hospitals.

Winners are determined by consumer perceptions about multiple quality and image issues, and the ratings are collected in NRC’s Ticker survey. This study surveys more than 250,000 households representing more than 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 United States and the District of Columbia. According to NRC, Ticker is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study that measures hospital performance and consumer preferences.

“The best honor we can receive is one from our own community,” says Ronald A. Paulus, M.D., president and CEO of Mission Health. “Our employees, physicians and volunteers and work hard every day to deliver quality care and compassionate healing to the communities we serve. I am glad that their efforts have been acknowledged.”

Winning hospitals in each market area are those with the highest consumer scores in four categories: best overall quality, best doctors, best nurses, and best image and reputation.
